Accelerated Reading Program
Accelerated Reader motivates students to read more through engaging quizzes, goal setting, and personalized recommendations. As students increase their reading volume, they develop greater reading stamina, word recognition, and language comprehension skills. This program is utilized at our Elementary and Junior High Campuses and helps teachers assess students' independent reading, a learning standard housed in all Reading Language Arts TEKS. 6 Weeks Reading Rewards
Awarded from the 1st - 5th Six Weeks, these rewards are eligible to be won by any student who is participating in AR testing. Two students from each grade level are selected at random to participate!
1st Six Weeks: Pep Rally VIPS!
2nd Six Weeks: Basketball Hoops with the High School Boys and Girls Basketball Teams
3rd Six Weeks: Christmas Cookie Decorating with Wildflour Pantry
4th Six Weeks: Directed Painting with HS Art Students
5th Six Weeks: Directed Floral Arrangements with Pirates and Petals
Annual AR Field Trip
The past few years we have made enough money at our annual bookfairs to fund trips to Green Acres for all students who meet their goal. We hope to be able to do so again this year. If funds are insufficient, a new reward will be chosen by the librarian. The established goals from August 2025 are listed in the table below. Any reports of cheating from staff will result in a removal of this reward for the current school year, and eligibility will refresh the following year.
The ELAR Department has collaborated with the library to set high goals for readers. The point goal requirements for attending the trip are listed below. The final point tally will take place on May 1st at 3:30, so that total numbers and payments can be provided to Green Acres. Students that are below the goal amount at that time will not be permitted to attend the trip.
