Texas Association of Future Educators 

The Texas Association of Future Educators or TAFE (pronounced "taffy") is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education.

TAFE is sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and is governed by a board of directors comprised of teachers, students and principals.

The Teaching and Training program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with careers related to teaching, instructing, and creating instructional and enrichment materials. The program of study includes recognizing a variety of student groups and their corresponding needs, identifying processes for developing curriculum and coordinating educational content, and coaching groups and individuals.

 

Work Based Learning Activities:

  • Serve as a camp counselor to learn mentoring , facilitation, and lesson planning skills.
  • Volunteer in a tutoring center to learn lesson planning and skills assessment.

Expanded Learning Opportunities:

  • Participate in TAFE
  • Participate in Future Coaches of Texas Association

Secondary Courses for High School Credit

  • Level 1: Principles of Education and Training 
  • Level 2: Human Growth and Development
  • Level 3: Instructional Practices
  • Level 4: Practicum in Education and Training

Aligned Industry-Based Certification: Educational Aide-1

  • Fingerprinting 
  • Creation of TEAL account 
  • 18+ prior to graduation/ June at the lastest
  • No testing for certificate
