The “VAPING’S NOT MY THING” CHALLENGE (the “Contest”) is a skill contest where an individual
“Entrant” may create and submit an original one-page poster to convince other kids of the serious health risks
of vaping (each entry must be submitted as either a poster with
captions; a drawn, painted, or digital illustration with annotations; or an infographic) (the “Poster”). The
Poster that each qualified Entrant or Entrant Team develops and submits will be evaluated by judges

Place the image into Adobe Illustrator.

What you will learn:
-A line is a path complosed of start and end anchor points, connected by a path.
-Draw lines using the Line Segment tool in the Tools panel. Select the Line Segment tool by clicking and holding the Rectangle tool. in the Tools panel.
-Lines you draw are Live, which means you can edit the length, direction, and angle after drawing them without switching from the Line Segment too.
-Rotate a line by moving the pointer off an end and dragging.

Explore how to combine shapes in different ways using the Shape Builder too.

What you will learn:
-Select the shapes you want to combine with the Selection tool in the Tools panel.
-Select the Shape Builder tool in the Tools panel. Either drag across the shapes you'd like to combine or press Alt(Windows) or Option (macOS) and drag across or click parts of shapes to remove them.
-To move shapes with no fill color, use the Selection tool to drag them by their stroke.

What you will learn: Trace Objects
-Add raster images to your Illustrator projects by choosing File>Place
-Select an image with the Selection too.
-Click Image Trace in the Properties panel to the right of the document and choose a trace preset to set trace options. Click Expand in the Properties panel to commit to the tracing and convert to editable vector artwork.
-Click and hold the Direct Selection tool, and select the Lasso tool in the Tools panel. Drag around the traced artwork to select it. After you choose Edit>Copy, choose Edit >Paste to paste the artwork.
-Click the Group button near the bottom of the Properties panel to group the artwork, treating it as a single object.
_Click the color fill in the properties panel to the right of the document to change its color.

Learn how to create basic shapes using the shape tools

What you will learn:
-Shape tools are located in the Tools panel.
-To show other shape tools, click and hold the rectangle tool in the Tools panel.
-When you draw shapes, Smart Guides (View>Smart Guides) help by showing the shape size in a measurement label, snapping to other objects, and indicating when an ellipse is a perfect circle or when a rectangle is a perfect square.
-Most shapes are Live, which means you can edit them without first switching to a tool after drawing them. Different shapes have widgets for editing corner radius, number of sides, and more.

What you will learn:
-Choose File>Save or Choose File>Save As.
-Saving in Ilustrator (AI) format retains layers, type, and other editable Illustator properties. It's best to save you document in the .AI format while you're still working on it.
-The Illustrator Options dialog box appears when you first choose File>Save or File> Save as. This dialog box offers other options when saving an Illustrator document.
-Choosing File> Save as and Choosing Adobe PDF saves as a file that can be shared, opened by free PDF readers, and posted online.

-The start screen appears when there are no documents currently open in Illustrator. It lists your recent files, Learn content, and presets.

What you will learn:
-Menu Bar and other menus that give you access to a variety of commands, adjustments, settings, and panels.
-Tools panel contains tools for creating and editing artwork. Similar tools are grouped together.
-Panels include Properties, Layers, and other panels that contain a variety of controls for working with artwork.
-Document window displays the file you're currently working on. Multiple open documents appear as tabs in the document window.

Open a new file. Create some grass on the bottom of the file. Nothing fancy, start with a rectangle of green.
Go to the Tree file. Click and drag over the whole image. It should put a box around it. Right click on it and select group. All pieces are now grouped together. With it selected Copy it (ctrl C).
Go back to the new file and Paste the tree (ctrl V).
Do the same for the Eggs and Rabbit.
Resize images if needed and create a cute Easter Scene.
Save as a JPG. ( you can change it from a SVG to JPG when exporting).

Follow the instructions and create the Easter Rabbit Face. Use the attached image to help you with the body of the Rabbit.
Save it as a JPG and turn it in.
You will be using it later.

For this assignment I want you to create the Easter Egg in the below tutorial.
Then create 2 more of your choice. Be creative and make it look pretty!
Keep the three eggs separate. You will be using them again later.

Create a new page under 1st Six Weeks in your Portfolio website. You will name it Vectr Shapes.
You will put the images of your Android Logo, your house scene, and your Mario brothers background on this page.
Explain what you learned and how you created your images.

At this time the easiest way to get the images onto your page is to screen shot them.
At the bottom of the screen, in search, type in snip and choose the snipping tool.
Take a snip and save it as a jpg.

Using the shapes tools, create a scene with a house, clouds, sun, grass, and a tree.

-In the upper right corner select Settings (symbol looks like a page with a gear on it) and rename file. (FirstName_LastName_1-6Android)
-The select export, then download.
- It will put the .svg file in your downloads folder.

There are some pages that came with the template we used for the portfolio. You will delete those and then add 6 more.

1) Go to your website
2) Click on the GEAR in the upper right.
3) If the MODE is not set to top, then change it to TOP and exit that window.
4) in the upper right of the screen there are 3 tabs (INSERT, PAGES, THEMES)
5) Select PAGES - You should see Home, Classes, Activities

7)Move your mouse over the word Activities and you will see 3 dots to the right, click them.
8) A menu will pop up and you need to select delete. This will delete the page.
9) Click the arrow next to classes and it will expand it. You will see Math & Art.
10) Repeat step #8 for Art, Math, and finally Classes.
11) Now we will add 6 new pages.
12) Click the plus(+) sign in the bottom right. A window that says NEW PAGE will pop up.
13) Name the page 1st Six Weeks, click done
14) Will repeat step #12, five more times.
- page names will be : 2nd Six Weeks, 3rd Six Weeks, 4th Six Weeks, 5th Six Weeks, 6th Six Weeks
