Spelling **This week for the spelling test, we will tell the students the spelling pattern that will be used in the word.  We do not expect them to memorize if it is er, ir, ur, or “or.”  So we will say….” Using the spelling pattern “er” spell the word “her”.  Using the spelling pattern “ir” spell the word “shirt.”

Phonics sound:  er, ir, ur, or (work)

High Frequency words: another    full     climb     through    poor     great

Vocabulary words:   leaped       stretched

Shades of Meaning:  ex. Great and good are similar in meaning, but great means more than good.  It means extra special.  Great is more intense.

Genre: fantasy

Reading Skills:  Cause and effect  ex. Why did the Kitten to jump in the pond?

Cause:  Kitten saw a bowl of milk in the pond.      Effect:  She jumped in the pond to drink the milk.

Grammar Skill:  adjectives (words that describe)  fluffy kitten

 

Math:       Model addition and subtraction          

Science:  Plants
